Location in relation to the surroundings
The memorial is located on a meadow by the Sázava River, at a place called the Sun Bay. In the years 1925–1945, an important writer Jaroslav Foglar (1907–1999), who had the scout's name Hawk, camped here with his group. With his personal presence and many of his supporters, the memorial was unveiled on 5 July 1997 on the occasion of writer`s 90th birthday. The author of the monument is the artist Vladimír Pechar. The Sun Bay has been the model for Foglar's best known book The Boys by Beaver River. Today there is a children's camp nearby.
