With his personal presence and many of his supporters, the memorial was unveiled on 5 July 1997 on the occasion of writer`s 90th birthday. The author of the monument is the artist Vladimír Pechar. The Sun Bay has been the model for Foglar's best known book The Boys by Beaver River. Today there is a children's camp nearby.
